Bridal Bouquet Stories

Bridal Bouquet Stories

Mya and Bill had a beautiful wedding photo session at their favorite place in Yosemite. The flower varieties and colors were selected to blend well with the style of the bride’s wedding dress and the color of the groom’s suit, but more importantly, to tell a story to the happy couple’s future grandchildren – when a young woman about to be married looks at a photo of her grandmother’s wedding and thinks about all the things that create a happy life filled with love no matter what obstacles may come along.

There are a lot of DYI tutorials about how to create a beautiful bridal bouquet, and looking at these videos and articles is a great way to get ideas about what you like. These tutorials often explain how to overcome some of the challenges to creating a lovely bouquet for your special day. These include advice on selecting colors and flower types that work well together and information on the mechanics of assembling a bouquet that is more complex in design and shape than a simple gathering of flowers.

But what about the story? How do wedding bouquets tell stories, and how can you tell the story you want your future children and grandchildren to hear and see?

Let’s consider the bridal bouquet that Mya chose for her ceremony and celebration. Each of the flowers are important in telling not only Mya’s story but also the story of the couple and their confident hopes for their future together. The dramatic white anemone is the rare pearl that a bride is to her groom as they jointly commit to spend the rest of their lives together. The pink roses complement and support the “pearl” as the joy and love of family and friends surround and support the young couple as their new adventure together begins. The greenery is life and hope for long life filled with peace and love.

Every new couple’s story is unique but also part of a very long story of many, many chapters going back thousands of years – chapters that chronicle tales of love, joy, work, and satisfaction, not alone but together. I look forward to hearing about your own individual stories and how flowers can add beauty to the memories, both as the first chapter in your story is still being written or as an anniversary of that special day long past draws near.
